A New Hampshire school district has agreed to pay the family of a former student $150,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging discrimination. The Manchester School District and school officials were sued last year, accused of denying the student his "constitutional and statutory rights" to equal access to public education. The eighth-grader was expelled in 2014 for allegedly assaulting another student. His family, which immigrated from South Sudan, filed a complaint with the federal Office of Civil Rights saying hearings were conducted in English, without a translator.
